Maddox, Buzz
Buzz Maddox passed away on December 9, 2019 at the age of 75. He was the son of the late John M. and Mamie Maddox.
Buzz was born and raised in Centerville, TN, where he lived his entire life, doing what he loved the most: working on the family farm in Gray’s Bend. We certainly can attest that his love of the land and his careful management helped make it the productive and beautiful place it is today.
The other great joy in Buzz’s life was golf. He played the game the same way he lived his life: with dedication, patience, and good humor. He enjoyed helping young players learn the game, guiding and teaching the middle and high school student teams. He was often the source behind many new players’ first set of clubs that he would build himself.
Buzz was a talented artist as well, painting and drawing scenes from around Hickman County. In the family having a ‘Buzz’ hanging in your house is what truly makes it a home. Honest, caring, and kind, Buzz was the best brother, uncle, and friend a person could hope for. Witty and funny, Buzz had a gift for storytelling that could not be matched.
Buzz leaves behind; his sister Peggy Owen, his nieces Michelle Owen (Buddy Taylor) and Laura Herritt (Jacob), and his great-niece Elizabeth Herritt, as well as countless cousins and close friends.
Visitation with the family will be held on 11 Dec 2019 beginning at 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Funeral Services will be held on 12 Dec 2019 at 11:00 AM, McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Burial will be held in the Gray’s Bend Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
Memorial Donations in Buzz’s memory may be made to the HCHS Buzz Maddox Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2009 North Oak Drive, Centerville, TN 37033
