Corporal Owen Springer Hinson, son of Paris & Sarah “Sallie” Hinson, entered the Army in May 1943, being discharged in 1945. First serving at Camp Stewart, Georgia and later Fort Meade, Maryland. Corporal Hinson’s duties included guarding German prisoners. Corporal Owen Springer Hinson was born Oct. 8, 1916 and died Nov. 2, 2000. Bert Richard Tatum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Tatum, entered the Army on November 7, 1941. Wallace B. Chandler 1925 -1981 Growing to adulthood in Hickman County, Wallace resided in Lewis Co. with his wife Virginia by his side. They have two daughters and three grandchildren, all being raised in Lewis County. Wallace served in the 22nd Division of the 6th Marine Corp as a Corporal. Following basic training at Fort Lejeune, NC. He served in San Diego, CA, Okinawa, Tsingtoa, China, and Japan. On Oct. 25, 1945, Wallace participated in the surrender ceremony of Japanese Military forces in the area of Tsingtoa, China. He is buried in Oakmont Cemetery outside Centerville, TN (Shipps Bend). Edward Ernest Webb and Jess Tanner This picture was taken about 1944 in Germany. Both men fought in the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne. Submitted 21 July 2004 by David Webb, son of Edward Ernest Webb. Harry Clyde Davis, inducted US Army on January 15, 1942 at Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. Awarded 2 Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon and Philipine Liberation Medal. Separated from the military on 10/16/1945. Son of Walter Raymond and Ella Duncan Davis of Hohenwald. Harry Clyde Davis died in 1997. Submitted by Bonnie Malburg of Lackawanna, NY.
