Garland Dwight Lester was born on July 23, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Dorothy Moss Lester and William Franklin Lester. He left his earthly abode on July 6, 2024, at the age of 72.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Musser Lester, as well as his children: Nicole Lester Whitt (Glenn) of Dacula, Georgia; Garland Lester II (Cassie) of Elkton, Kentucky; Matthew Cave Lester of Jacksonville, Florida; Jordan Lester of Atlanta, Georgia; and Scott Burel of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his brothers: Greg Lester (Jennifer) of Winder, Georgia; Gaylon Lester (Betty Anne) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Nicky Lester (Ruth) of Centerville, Tennessee; and DeWayne Lester of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Garland Dwight Lester’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Summer Peterson (Austin), Atalie Lester, Garland Lester III, and Alice Lester; and his great-grandchildren: Iris and Atlas Peterson, Chloe Stephens, and Alaina Eich. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces: Brent Johnston, Kinzie Lester, Jeremy Lester, Matthew Nall, and Autumn Lester Pettit.

With his wonderful personality and zest for life, he charmed us all! His light may be dimmed, but our love for him burns brightly!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Charles L. Nickell Memorial Park, Centerville, TN, with military honors.
