Lange, Ethelyn Spruill
Ethelyn Spruill Lange, a woman of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, at her home in Hohenwald, TN. Born on May 22, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Victor and Mabel McAlister Spruill, Ethelyn’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of creativity.
Ethelyn’s journey began as the cherished sister to Martha Spruill Vohrer, and the late Victor Foute Spruill, and Bettye Ann Spruill Gillingham. Her life was further blessed when she met and married the love of her life, Edward Lange, who passed away before her, leaving a love that continued to grow through their family.
A devoted mother to her daughter, Beverly (Michael) Hess, Ethelyn’s nurturing spirit was further evident in her role as a grandmother to Daniel (Alyssa) McGuire and Garrett J. Hess, and beloved great-grandson Charles Riley McGuire.
Ethelyn’s educational pursuits led her to earn a certificate in Choir Music from Essex Community College, a field that allowed her to combine her love for music with her innate desire to care for others. Her professional life, however, was dedicated to the noble role of homemaker and full-time volunteer.
In her later years, Ethelyn found joy and purpose in making greeting cards for her family. Each card was an expression of her love and creativity. Her family and friends looked forward to receiving these handmade tokens, which were cherished as much for their beauty as for the love they represented.
A celebration of life service will be held at Hohenwald First United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 2:00 pm with finger-foods to follow. Adair Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
