Kittrell, Bobbie June
Bobbie June Newton Kittrell, age 95, passed peacefully into the next life on November 30, 2024,
at NHC Place at the Trace in Nashville, Tennessee. Her daughter, Kaye, was by her side.
Born on September 12, 1929, in Lexington, Alabama, Bobbie June was the third of five children
born to Lannie and Jessie Newton. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she lived a
life of unwavering faith and service.
Bobbie June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William B. Kittrell, who passed on
August 20, 2000, her parents, Lannie and Jessie Newton, her daughter, Debbie (Noel) Coleman of
Totty’s Bend, Tennessee, her older brothers Ottis Newton of Lexington, Alabama, and Corbitt
Newton of Loretta, Tennessee, and her younger sister Shirley Osborn of Killen, Alabama.
She is survived by three of her four cherished children: Kaye Kittrell of Carthage, Tennessee;
Marty (Jane) Kittrell of Nashville, Tennessee; and Bill (Suzanne) Kittrell of Abingdon, Virginia.
Bobbie June’s legacy also includes nine treasured grandchildren—Jason and Nathan Coleman, Holly Coleman Hanes, Walker and William Kehrer, Elizabeth Williams, Jessi Seaton, Hunter
Kittrell, and Katharine Bailey—and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother
Lindell Newton of Lexington, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.
On August 5, 1948, Bobbie June married the love of her life, William B. Kittrell. They settled in
Centerville, Tennessee, where she lived until her later years when her health necessitated a
move to Nashville. A longtime member of the Centerville Church of Christ, Bobbie June faithfully
served alongside her husband, contributing tirelessly to the church’s Outreach Center and Bus Garage.
A celebration of Bobbie June’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at McDonald
Funeral Home in Centerville, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will take place from 11:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the friendly and compassionate staff at NHC Place
at the Trace, Senior Helpers, and Caris Healthcare for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bobbie June Kittrell’s name to the
Centerville Church of Christ or Totty’s Bend Church of Christ.
