Janet Carol King was born on November 24, 1945 in Only, TN and passed away on April 2, 2019, in Nashville. She was 73 years 4 months and 9 Days Old. She is the daughter of the late Oliver and Gracie Berryman Powers.

She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and her grandson, Drew Luckett. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dorris Freemon King of Centerville. Daughters, Daphne Luckett (Tim) of Centerville, and Stacey Driggers (Conrad) of Nashville. Sisters, Shirley Garton, Mazie Lance, Hattie Mayberry, Lois Lindsey, Daisy Beard, and Brenda Smith. Brothers, Jerry Powers, and Willie Powers along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Janet worked over the years doing factory work but had retired. She spent many years coaching both softball and basketball and had coached her girls as they grew up. She herself also loved to play. In retirement, she found many things to do to enjoy life. She became an artist. She took classes and did many types of paintings, sketches, and watercolor projects. She would often take photos so that she could later paint what she was seeing. She also had a love for antiques of all different kinds and found value in each one she had. She watched and enjoyed American Roadshow and American Pickers on TV. Her routine found her daily at Homestead restaurant, where she socialized with the other regulars. Homestead had a special place in her heart. She loved to spend time watching her birds from her deck while listening to windchimes in the breeze. She even had a chicken come to the house that she named Hattie the Hen. Above all these things she loved her family: Her husband of 54 years, and her girls. She was a truly beautiful person and will be deeply missed.

Visitation with the family will be held on 5 Apr 2019, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM and 6 Apr 2019 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Funeral Services will be held 6 Apr 2019 at 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
