King, Christine R
Christine Rebecca King passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born on July 4, 1934, in Hohenwald to the late Carl Amacher and Christine Jones Amacher.
Beck was a steadfast member of the Springer Church of Christ for an impressive sixty years. Her love of worship was evident in her enthusiasm for attending church singings across Middle Tennessee.
Beck’s home was a hub of warmth and creativity, where she expressed her artistic talents through quilting, painting, and crafting. Beck’s quilts were not just blankets; they were woven with stories and love. Camping trips with her husband and children were among her cherished memories, as they allowed her to share her love for the great outdoors and create lasting family bonds.
Her culinary skills were a source of humble pride, and though she modestly never considered her cooking to be perfect, her family and friends always looked forward to the delicious meals she prepared with such care. She shared her love of cooking with others by hosting dinners for Springer’s guest preachers and their wives.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, such as watching “the wheel”-her endearing term for Wheel of Fortune- watching the Tennessee Titans and the Vols football and baseball teams. A collector at heart, Beck had an eye for antiques and the stories they held. Her home reflected her impeccable taste, was always clean and tidy, and was a welcoming space for all who entered.
Beck and her husband took annual Army reunion trips with her dearest friends, Leroy and Melvis Staggs, which were adventures they looked forward to as they traveled to different states, reminiscing and creating new memories.
Known for her strong will and sharp mind, Beck was the epitome of resilience, she was as tough as nails. Beck was a firecracker, a fitting connection to the day she was born. Every year, her family celebrated her life with fireworks.
She lived by a simple yet powerful creed: God first, family second. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her upfront and honest nature meant that you always knew where you stood with her, a trait that earned her deep respect and admiration.
In addition to her parents, Carl and Christine Amacher, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward King, and her siblings, James, Charles, Barbara, Brenda, and Martha.
Beck leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Darryl (Nicki) King and Kevin (Kim) King; grandchildren, Kristin Holley, Nicholas King, Mattison King, Leah (Kyle) Runions, and Abby (Michael) Lomax; and great-grandchildren, Sam Holley, Cooper Coble, Brelin King, Eden King, Kylie Runions, Marlie Runions, Haze Runions, Baker Runions, Lennon Hinson, and Mercy Lomax.
Visitation with Beck’s family was on Sunday, July 28, 2024 in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home. Funeral services followed with Shane Blackwood and Jeff Gandy officiating. Burial was in Swiss Cemetery.
McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the King family.
