King, Billy Ray
Billy Ray King, aged 72, beloved husband of Debra Halbrooks King and a resident of Columbia, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Life Care Center.
A visitation to celebrate Billy’s life was held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Born on December 27, 1950, in Lewis County, Billy was the son of the late Joel King and the late Bessie Chessor King. On February 18, 1972, he married Debra Halbrooks. Billy dedicated many years of hard work to Columbia Construction before retiring in 2013. His passions included fishing, tending to his yard with a special fondness for his John Deere, and cheering on the Tennessee Vols.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Shane Moody) King of Culleoka, sister, Brenda Davis of Summertown, grandchildren, Tyler Kennedy, Cali Kennedy, step granddaughter, Shaina Moody, brothers in law, Raymond Davis, Kenneth (Kimberly Clark) Halbrooks, Timmy Halbrooks, Leon Halbrooks, Gary Halbrooks, and Eric Halbrooks, several nieces and nephews, and special nieces who he thought of as his own, Victoria (Neal) McGuire and Denise (Randy) Powers.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, David Coble, Clifton Coble, Jean Davis, Kathy Burleson, Mable Anglin, and Joann King.
