Jimmy J. Jenkins, of Centerville, Tennessee, was born on September 3, 1938, and passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Dorsey Cowan Jenkins and Hazel Ozell Loveless Jenkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Simmons and Peggy Gardner, and his brother, Toby Jenkins.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Ila Chessor Jenkins; daughters Bettina (Lonnie) Horner and Regina (Mike) Elkins; and son Jonathan (Kim) Jenkins. He was a proud grandfather to Kayla (Michael) McCord, Ethan (Gabby) Horner, Griffin (Abby) Elkins, Adley (Jack) McKinnon, Weston Elkins, Kilee Jenkins, Anna Kate Jenkins, and Jase Jenkins. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Callan McCord, Amalie McCord, and Hayes Horner. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Betty Chessor, along with several nieces and nephews who will treasure his memory.
Jimmy was a hardworking and resourceful man, able to tackle almost any task he set his mind to. He took pride in finishing what he started and brought humor to life with his love of jokes and pranks.
Above all, Jimmy deeply loved his family. He made it his mission to care for them and stayed connected with daily calls and visits, often initiating the outreach himself. His greatest desire was for his family to share an eternal reunion in Heaven, a hope that now comforts those he leaves behind.
Jimmy’s legacy is one of love, faith, and dedication—a man whose presence will be missed but whose memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation with the family will be 26 Jan 2025 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Twomey Church of Christ, 65 Hwy 100 W, Centerville, TN 37033. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00PM at Twomey Church of Christ, 65 Hwy 100 W, Centerville, TN with burial to follow at Milan Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
