Janet Houston, age 64, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026.
Born on June 27, 1961, in Centerville, Tennessee, Janet lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and love. She most recently made her home in Wasilla, Alaska, where she was deeply rooted in her family, friendships, and community.
Janet devoted more than thirty years of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. Her career was not merely a profession, but a true calling—one she fulfilled with skill, empathy, and unwavering commitment to those entrusted to her care.
Above all else, Janet was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the cherished wife of Ronald for 45 years, a devoted mother to Olivia, Benjamin, and Joseph, and a proud grandmother to Lucas and Corbin, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Janet will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and the deep love she held for her family. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including crafting, sewing, and tending to her garden and flowers—activities that reflected her patience, creativity, and nurturing nature.
Her kindness touched countless lives, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Plunkett.
She is survived by her mother, Amy (Bill) Flowers; her siblings, Timmy Plunkett and April (Josh) Tidwell; her beloved husband, Ronald Houston; her children, Olivia, Benjamin (Shannon), and Joseph; and her cherished grandchildren, Lucas and Corbin.
Visitation with the family will be 2 Feb 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Funeral Services will be held 3 Feb 2026 at 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County with burial to follow at Wade-Peeler Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
The family kindly asks that those wishing to send expressions of sympathy keep in mind that Janet’s immediate family will be traveling back to Alaska following services.
