Mr. Herbert Leon Horner, a resident of Hohenwald, TN, passed from this life on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the age of 87 at St. Thomas Health in Centerville, TN.

Herbert was born on March 7, 1936, to George Horner and Louise (O’Guin) Horner, in Hickman County. He grew up and began working at the sawmill. For most of his life, that’s where he worked. He enjoyed showing racking horses, watching the races (both nascar and dirt track), and any type of sport that could be watched. He was a wonderful dad and an even better “Papa”.

His parents precede him in death.

He is survived on this earth by his son, Thomas (Janie) Horner of Hohenwald, sister, Lurene (Ray Glenn) Bates of Nashville, TN, granddaughters, Rachel (Jimbo) Dodson, Myleah (Tomas) Blakeney, and Tasheena Horner, grandsons, Tyler (Haley) Horner, and Austin Horner, great grandsons, Dayton (Allie) Reynolds, Oaklyn Dodson, and Taeson Lusk, great granddaughter, Kaylie (Blake) Bowen, great-great grandson, Blaine Bowen, and two more great-great twin grandsons coming in June.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home – Lewis County. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM also in the McDonald Funeral Home – Lewis County. Burial will follow in the Horner Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
