Hoover, Mary Katherine
Mary Katherine Hoover was born in Columbia, Tennessee on October 15, 1938, to the late Ray Dorch and Christine Reed Foster and entered eternal rest in Centerville, Tennessee on June 10, 2024 at the age of 85 years.
In addition to her parents, Katherine is preceded in death by her husband William Eugene (Gene) Hoover and Brother Howard Foster. She is survived by her children Mary Elaine Spangler, Norma Jean Morrow (Thomas) and Calvin Lee Hoover (Dedra), grandchildren Steven Daniel Spangler, Karen Michelle Spangler, William Carter Hoover, Kayla Christine Hoover, Neil Thomas Morrow, and Kimberly Ann Richardson.
Katherine was born in the Theta Community in Maury County and moved to Centerville following her marriage to Gene. She was a hard-working mother having worked at Levis for over 24 years and raising her children. She also was a caregiver with empathy and tender compassion to others. She loved doing good deeds for people. She worked long hard days which is a symbol of her dedication to others while she balanced work and family whom she loved dearly. She made sure her children and household were always in order often sacrificing her own needs to see that they were provided for. Such a mother is the cornerstone of her family, exemplifying strength, love and perseverance.
Her love for people carried beyond her own home into those of others. She once assisted a blind veteran who was 87 years old and had lost his sight in service to our Country. Katherine was honored to help this gentleman as a thank you for his service. She helped many people during her life as a way of expressing herself and her genuine concern for her fellow man.
Katherine was an excellent cook. Fried chicken she fixed was always just right. At Christmas she always baked homemade cakes that included carrot cake, coconut cake and fruitcake. She collected and enjoyed porcelain dolls, gardening and working in her flower beds where she grew many varieties of beautiful flowers. Katherine will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
