Carlos M. Holland, age 88, of Hohenwald, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 18, 2003, at 1:00 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend’s L.H. Benson, Walter Droke and Dwayne Sparks will officiate. Burial will follow in the Swiss Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lela Chumney Holland. Two daughters Carlene (Rev. Jimmy) Greer of Memphis and Marilyn (Gary) Hensley of Hohenwald. Two sons Paul (Erlene) Holland of Nashville and Mac (Kaye) Holland of Brentwood. Also six brothers, David and Perry Holland of Savannah, Leslie Holland of Bethel Springs, Melvin Holland of Henderson and Charles Holland of Union City. Twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Mr. Holland was born December 13, 1914. He was the son of the late Eber and Sula Plunk Holland. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church a supervisor at Genesco for 34 years and maintenance/transportation supervisor for the Lewis County Board of Education for 10 years. He served as Vice Mayor and Councilman for the City of Hohenwald.
