Hinson, Jane Evelyn
Jane Evelyn Davis Hinson, lovingly known as “Janie,” “Mamaw,” and also “Memaw”—a title still hotly debated among her grandchildren—passed away on February 1, 2026, in Hohenwald, Tennessee. She was born on September 5, 1948, to the late William Clyde and Vera Pearl Davis. Jane’s life was marked by deep love, quiet strength, a fiery spirit, and a heart that held her family firmly at its center.
Raised in the Beech Creek community of Wayne County, Tennessee, Jane shared a loving life with her beloved husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Hinson. Together, they blended their families and built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and deep care for one another.
Jane was a devoted mother to Christy (Jason) McLeod and the late Sandy Ray. She was also a stepmother to the late Christy Graves, Mandy (Steve) Fowler, and Brittney (Paul Newcomb) Hinson.
Jane was dearly loved by her family. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always worrying whether their feet were cold or if they had eaten enough. Sleepovers at Mamaw’s (or Memaw’s) were legendary, filled with swimming in the pool, popcorn, and late nights watching The Golden Girls. Her grilled cheese sandwiches and sweet tea were unmatched, and she was famous for her beloved “pink stuff” dessert—one she lovingly made for Ronnie just a day before she passed.
She leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Holly (Kevin) Morris, Bradley (Kaitlin) Hinton, Kristen (Paul) Blocker, Collin Gregg, Jillian (David) Garcia, Crews Barber, Carly (Garren) Palmer, Grant (Jolie) Fowler, Sydney (Jonathan) Bennett, and Brailee Newcomb.
Her great-grandchildren—Kamden, Klay, Drezden, Houston, Kennedy, Aison, Gray, Noah, Lela, Emery, Taysom, and Wrenley.
Jane also shared close bonds with many of her siblings, nieces, and nephews, with whom she maintained strong and meaningful relationships throughout her life.
She also held a dear lifelong friendship of more than 50 years with Debbie Carroll.
She spent many years working at the Siegel factory, where she was known as a dedicated employee and a valued friend. Outside of work, Jane took pride in keeping a clean, welcoming home and loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, shopping for the perfect gift, and tending to flowers. She was rarely without a coffee cup in hand, and the family lovingly joked that spilling coffee was known as “pulling a Janie.” Her bright red fingernail polish, great laugh, and joyful presence made her unforgettable once you truly knew her.
Jane was a woman of kindness and strength. She had a loving heart, a spirited soul, and a presence that brought comfort simply by being there.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, February 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Flatrock Church of Christ.
