Gayther M. Hinson, Jr., known to all as “Pop”, passed from his earthy home on to his reward on Thursday, May 27th, 2021, at the age of 80. He passed at St. Thomas Hospital surrounded by the love of his life, Betty Hinson. Pop was born on September 12, 1940, to Gayther M. Hinson, Sr. & Lillian (Barber) Hinson, here in Hohenwald. He married Betty Wisdom and together they lived a wonderful life together. He enlisted in the United States Navy after high school and served his country proudly. Pop and Betty have been faithful members of the Lomax Church of Christ for many years. Pop was the type of person everyone wants to be. He never met a stranger and always had fun. Laughter came naturally with Pop. He will forever be remembered as one of the funniest people to have lived.
Along with his wife, Betty Hinson, of Hohenwald, he is survived by his sons Mack (Stephanie) Hinson of Mercer Island, WA and Brett (Kris) Hinson of Murfreesboro, TN, his brother Garry (Wanda) Hinson of Hohenwald, his grandchildren Sam Hinson, Eli Hinson, Emerson Hinson, Ella Hinson, Rachel Hinson, and Payton Hinson, and also his great grandchildren Caleb and Andrew Welch.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Davis.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, from 8:30AM-10:30AM. Funeral services will follow at 10:30AM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald. Donnie DeBord will officiate. Burial will follow in the Goodman Hinson Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN.
