Max E. Herring, 72, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. The funeral was held Friday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc, Mississippi with Brothers Tommy Inman and Junior Ritchie officiating. Burial was in Cooke Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Herring was the son of the late Jessie and Lilly Murphy Herring. He was a truck driver for Commercial Carriers, a Baptist, a Mason and a United States Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Lujean Herring of Pontotoc, Mississippi; one step-daughter, Brenda Hadaway of Pontotoc, Mississippi; two sons, Greg Herring of Hohenwald and Rick Herring of Memphis; one step-son, Terry Wages of Tupelo, Mississippi; five grand children and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Gail Herring.
