Henley, William L
William Larimore Henley, 92, resident of Marietta, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019. He was born in Cordell, Oklahoma to Ralph and Etoile Henley.
The family moved to Nashville when Lari was four years old. He grew up there, attending David Lipscomb Academy from third grade through graduation from high school. Nashville was home until he attended Tennessee Polytechnic Institute for a year prior to his 1944 enlistment in the Navy. He became an electronics technician while in the service, and after his tour of duty, Lari returned to Tennessee Polytech, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. It was during his return to TPI that he met his wife, Lunelle. They married in 1951 and moved to Fort Campbell, TN where Lari worked as a radio announcer and station manager for the Armed Forces Radio Unit. Soon after starting a family, he began working as a professional electrical engineer, moving to Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and finally Georgia in 1967. In later years, he retired from government service as a tax examiner. He and Lunelle were members of North Atlanta Church of Christ since 1967, and especially enjoyed their life group on Sunday nights and the Seniors Wednesday morning bible class and luncheons. As a teenager, Lari enjoyed performing as a ventriloquist. Renewing his interest during his retirement years, he entertained occasionally at church functions and traveled to attend ventriloquist conventions. He also enjoyed singing and playing the ukulele.
Mr. Henley is preceded in death by his wife, Lunelle Clark Henley, as well as brothers Richard Burton Henley, and Donald Caperton Henley. In addition to his children Ralph D. Henley (Karyn), Larimore Henley, Jr., and Janise Phillips (Eddie), Mr. Henley is survived by grandchildren Raygan Henley (Chie), Heath Henley (Gunnhild), Devin Phillips(Christina), and Wesley Phillips (Grace), as well as six great-grandchildren.
