Hassell, Effie M
As a Cub Scout den mom for many years, Effie guided countless young scouts with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm. She instilled in them not only the skills and values of scouting but also a deep sense of responsibility, compassion and friendship. Her home was often a second home for her den, a place where laughter, learning and camaraderie thrived. Outside of scouting, Effie was a loving spouse to Robert, a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Bon Aqua and a caring mother to David and Gary. In her later years, Effie embraced life with a passion for hiking, crocheting and woodworking-interests that reflected her adventurous spirit and her skillful hands. She loved to quilt and every quilt she made was a symbol of her care, and those who received her handmade treasures were left with a part of her heart. She also loved to eat out with friends and family and try new dishes. Her favorite restaurant was Lugo’s in Dickson.
In addition to her husband, Effie is preceded in death by her grandson Joey Hassell, brother Pete Stevenson, brother Hubert Stevenson, and sister Bessie Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are son David Hassell of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, son Gary (Tonya) Hassell of Edmonton, Kentucky, eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jake, Ashley, Janie, Trevor, Cheyenne, Ashlyn, Olivia, and twelve great-grandchildren, Lilianna, Isiah, Naloni, Atom, Micah, Raylee, Maelyn, Letty, Addie, Remington, Cutter and Ellory.
McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, Tennessee is honored to be serving the Hassell Family during this difficult time.
