Lorena Ruth Lawrence Harrod, 75, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Hospice Center of Southern, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Monday, October 5 at the J. C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Burial was in Bowling Green Gardens. Mrs. Harrod, a retired restaurant manager, was born October 10, 1933 in Bowling Green. She was the daughter of the late Harry Elvin and Lidda Bell Smith Lawrence. She attended Madison Avenue General Baptist Church. She loved life to its fullest. She loved to play the piano and gospel music was her passion. She would do anything for anyone. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Survivors include two daughters, Anna Roll and former husband, Thomas Roll, Irene Garbacz and husband Ted, both of Bowling Green; son, Roy Steven Waters and wife Diane of Bowling Green; four sisters, Estelle Mercer of Hohenwald, Mickey Poteet and husband Edd, Ina Christy and husband Gene, and Suzie Burton, all of Bowling Green; two brothers, Fred Lawrence and wife Charlotte of House Springs, Missouri, and Maxwell Briggs Lawrence and wife Faye of Bowling Green; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Steven Dale Tinsley and Virginia Dare Morris, and sister Flo Wilcox and her husband Calvin Wilcox.
