Shirley Sue Walker Harder of Waynesboro departed this life on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville at the age of 78 years, two months, and 26 days. She was born August 29, 1943 in Clifton to the late J.G. and Gertrude Throgmorton Walker. She was united in marriage to Jamie Wayne Harder on November 9, 1968 and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2009.

Mrs. Harder was the retired medical records director at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro where she served as hospital administrator for eight years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by a daughter, Natasha Harder; a son, Brett Harder and fiancee’ Alexa Getz; two grandchildren, Aaron Harder and Kaitlyn Harder; and her grandchildren’s mother, Patsy Harder, all of Waynesboro.

Services were Monday, November 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Waynesboro, with Greg Eaton and Aaron Harder officiating. Burial followed in Throgmorton Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, assisting the family.

Pallbearers were Jim Mangubat, Matthew Turley, Robert Lonis, Franklin Cole, Jerry Duren and Tyler Tetz with John Hill as honorary pallbearer.
