Griner, Billy Curry

He was born in Hohenwald on July 5,1933 to the late Conard Lester and Ella Mai (Curry) Griner. Along with his parents Mr. Griner was preceded in death by his grandson Mr. Chad Curry Griner and son in-law Kenneth Karpel. At the age of 20 Billy joined the United States Army where he served two years before being transferred to Army Reserve for another eight years of service. In July of 1964 he married his best friend and life partner Mrs. Irene King and during their 56 years of marriage raised their children Rick, Connye, David and Brian. Billy worked for the Natchez Trace Parkway/National Parks Department in the maintenance department.
Billy was the type of person that never met a stranger. He would share his jokes with anyone that would listen. People were immediately drawn to his sense of humor and the compassion he showed everyone. His favorite place to be was outside, often taking off on camping adventures with the family. He was known for his cooking, especially his fried fish, which he passed the secret recipe on to his son. On Saturday afternoons he could be found by the T.V. cheering on his favorite team, the Tennessee Volunteers. Nothing gave him greater joy than being surrounded by his family and loved ones.
