Gray, Carl “Corky”
Corky Gray age 86, of Florala passed away June 13, 2025.
Born with a rod in one hand and remote tuned to NASCAR in the other, Corky was a man who could find the funny in just about anything. His quick wit, sharp one-liners, and ability to make anyone laugh were unmatched, whether you were family, friend or total stranger. He spent many happy days casting lines on peaceful waters, always certain the “big one” was just one cast away. When he wasn’t fishing, he was glued to the screen cheering for his favorite driver, often louder than the engines themselves.
Corky lived life full throttle but always made time for the people who mattered most. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, friend, prankster of the highest order, and a storyteller with a grin that let you know trouble or laughter was coming.
He is survived by wife, Jeanette Gray, daughters, Sherry McDowell (Joe), Donna Brackeen (Tim), Melissa Coubert (Ike) and Terri Hunter (Brad), brother, Ricky Gray (Diane), sisters, Dorothy Sharp and Judy McKnight, numerous grand and great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Corky Gray was at 11 a.m. Monday June 16, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home with John Bryan officiating. Interment followed in Chapel Hill cemetery.
