Marjorie Sue Aydelott Gilmer, age 82 of Centerville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Columbia, Tennessee. Born November 24, 1939 in Centerville, she was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Thelma Puckett Aydelott of Centerville.

A loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she enjoyed spending time with her family and always found ways to stay busy. An avid sports fan, Marge was a member of the 1957 Regional Basketball Championship team. In addition, she was a cheerleader and a member of the marching band. She continued her active lifestyle well into her elder years – earning the nickname “Granny” from her numerous years playing softball, mentoring school children and helping the election commission during local elections. She was a member of the Centerville Church of Christ – assisting with Vacation Bible School and delivering Meals on Wheels. Marge was employed by Genesco and Tencon before retiring from Plasti-Line.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Lee Gilmer; children Troy (Susie) Gilmer of Nunnelly, Tracy (Kevin) Binkley of Fairview, and Trevor (Melissa) Gilmer of Culleoka and grandson Austin Gilmer of Culleoka. She is also survived by sisters, Barbara Carpenter of Wagram, North Carolina and Jane (David) Talley of Centerville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held with the family from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. A service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 12:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, with burial to follow in Memory Gardens, Centerville, TN.
