Mrs. Lois Dean Horner Gilbert was born on June 24, 1941, to the late Herman Benjamin and Edna Elizabeth Cross Horner and entered eternal rest on August 22, 2025, at her home in Pleasantville, TN at the age of 84.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilbert is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Daniel Gilbert, daughter Cindy Sissom, brothers Wilbern and Loyd Horner, sisters Hilda Buckingham and Sue Horner.

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her sons Mark Gilbert and Paul Gilbert, sister Judy Goodman, grandsons Daniel (Jenna) Sissom and Nathan Sissom, one great granddaughter Evee Sissom, and son-in-law Denny (Shelley) Sissom. She also has one nephew Brian Horner and nieces Valerie Bishop, Beth (Mark) Green, Amy (Kevin) Johnston, and Brandy (Christopher) Wesbrooks, as well as caregiver Angel Donovan. She also has many Gilbert nephews and nieces, as well as a host of beloved great nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Gilbert was a devoted member of the Brushy Church of Christ where she served along with her husband who was an elder of the church, and she also taught Sunday school. She had a special gift for nurturing family and loved ones along with babysitting and working with plants. She loved to cook and can food, sew, and quilt, which was her passion.

A Funeral Service was held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. in Centerville, TN. Burial followed the funeral service in Williams Cemetery in Pleasantville, TN.
