Gervais, Thomas Edward
Thomas followed his own path his whole life. He made all decisions based on Christ’s life.
He lived with nature and a gentle demeanor never showing anger to anyone. He refused to lie but instead, he took minutes explaining why he would not.
Tom was very intelligent and meticulous but chose to live and work with the migrants picking fruits. He would bicycle once or every two years from Tennessee to Iowa and Canada to meet with friends.
On his journey, he received his Tennessee Surveying license and proceeded to become a Licensed Massage Therapist.
God chose Tom to give away his possessions leaving his professions to live with the homeless in Nashville.
He used his Middle name “Edward” walking the streets and praying eight hours a day to help the homeless. He became a fixture in Nashville walking aimlessly and concentrating on prayer for others.
Pastors brought the ill to Edward to heal and for six years the weather was warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Tom said the prophets didn’t die in the bible that they still lived for today.
Later Tom recounted that he never wanted for anything. When he asked God for food, clothes, or money it always appeared.
Tom explained that once he needed a coat. A man who drove straight from Pennsylvania to Nashville found Tom walking the streets praying and told him that God asked him to give him a coat. He then turned around and drove back to Pennsylvania.
Tom, a gentle soul passed away on June 5, 2024, in Hohenwald Tennessee. God had told him that his mission was done giving his life to help the forgotten.
He was loved by many, many friends and family.
Tom was the son of the late William and Marjorie Gervais. He is survived by his six siblings:
Kathy Martin, Mary Gervais, Denise Rabbass, John Gervais, Phil Gervais and Andy Gervais.
