Mrs. Helen Garrett, of Paris, TN, formerly of Hohenwald, passed from this life to her eternal one on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the age of 86.

Helen was born on May 24, 1935, in Hickman County to Emmett Bates and Nettie Willis. She was married to the love of her life, Joe Garrett, until his passing several years ago. Helen worked for several different factories in Hohenwald but eventually opened her store in town, Helen’s Lamps. She owned and operated that business until her retirement.

She is survived on this earth by her daughter, Joanna (Ronald) Owen Wix-Paris, TN, son, Terry (Terri) Garrett-Hohenwald, TN, grandchildren: Tommy Owen, Katelyn Owen, Wayne Garrett, Jeremy Garrett, Elizabeth Adkins, and Rachael Cogdill, 14 great grandchildren, one half-brother, Randy Willis, and a special niece, Debbie Garrett Devore.

Along with her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Lillie Bell Blackwell and Irene Rochelle, and her brother, Leo Bates.

Graveside services will be held in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens, Hohenwald, TN, on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Blake Farr will officiate. Entombment will follow.
