Fowlkes, Linda Faye
Linda Faye Fowlkes was a kind and loving soul who touched the lives of many. Born on August 4, 1951, she passed away on May 2, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity.
Linda Faye married the love of her life, the late Wright Kent Fowlkes on August 31, 1977, and together they raised a beautiful family. She was a devoted mother to her children, LaTonya Jenkins (Christopher, Sr.) from Clinton, Maryland, Brian Kent Fowlkes from Centerville, Tennessee, and Willie Stevano Fowlkes (Amy) from Greenville, South Carolina. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren: Briana Fowlkes, Christopher Jr. “C.J.” Jenkins, Bella Fowlkes, and Naomi Fowlkes.
Linda Faye was baptized at an early age at the Church of Christ, and she remained a faithful member of the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ in Centerville, Tennessee until her passing. She lived a life of service, and she had a heart for taking care of people. Her kind a gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
She worked at Levi’s for 25 years and Southeastern Pants for 20 years. Following her retirement, Linda Faye worked as a caregiver. Her caring nature and attention to detail made her a wonderful companion for those in need. Through her work as a caregiver, Linda Faye was able to share her talents and kindness with those around her, and she will be remembered for her selflessness and dedication to helping others.
Outside of work, Linda Faye enjoyed sewing and gardening she was also known for her festive holiday decorations, her beautiful garden, and her delicious baked goods. Some of her specialties were her Italian cream cake and chess squares. She had a massive collection of cookbooks and jewelry, and her favorite colors were blue, pink, and red. On Sundays, she could be seen dressed in one of her beautiful hats from her collection.
Linda Faye was preceded in death by her mother, Ora Lee Dobbins, and her sisters, Diane Dobbins, and Gloria Martin. She is survived by her siblings, Dexter Dobbins (Elaine) from Seattle, Washington, Kerry “Bubba” Dobbins (Gloria) from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Rebecca Ann Cofer from Columbia, TN, her in-laws, Joseph Fowlkes (Bertha) from Centerville, TN, Willie Clay Fowlkes, Jr. (Alberta) from Cleveland, Ohio, Anne McShane of Cleveland, Ohio, Linda Grace Fowlkes, of Centerville, TN, Alvaskar Fowlkes (Cathey) from Centerville, TN, Elton Fowlkes (Shenia) from Centerville, TN, Earl Fowlkes from Nashville, TN and Ellen Fowlkes from Centerville, TN, as well as a multitude of cherished family members and close friends.
Linda Faye was deeply touched by the kindness and unwavering support of her dear friends David and Cathey Dick. Their daily phone calls were a source of great joy and comfort to her. Linda Faye cherished their friendship, and her family is grateful for the love and compassion that David and Cathey showed her throughout her life.
Linda Faye will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love.
The services for our beloved Mother, Linda Faye Fowlkes, are as follows: Visitation with the family will take place on Friday, 5 May 2023 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. at Columbia Avenue Church of Christ, 177 Columbia Ave, Centerville, TN. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6th at 2:00 PM. at McDonald’s Funeral Home. There will be another opportunity to visit with the family at 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Following the burial at Memory Gardens, a repast will be held at the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ.
