Floyd, Clara Lorene Wix
Clara Lorene Wix Floyd, affectionately known to all as Lorene, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in Waynesboro, TN. Born on March 17, 1937, in Summertown, Lorene was known for kindness and gentleness throughout her 88 years of life. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Austin Earl Floyd, her parents, Thomas and Vera Wix, and her siblings, Elton Wix, Aileen Brock, and Jackie Wix.
Lorene’s warmth and nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. For many years, she served in the cafeteria of Lewis County Schools, where her loving nature and caring demeanor earned her a special place in the hearts of countless children. Her smile and kind words brightened each student’s day, and she was not just a cafeteria worker but a friend to many.
Her passion for life was evident through her hobbies. Lorene was an avid gardener, finding joy in the simple pleasure of tending to her plants and flowers. Her sewing skills were unmatched, creating beautiful pieces that she lovingly shared with her family and friends. But perhaps her greatest joy was cooking. Lorene’s big family dinners were legendary, and through each dish she prepared, she conveyed the immense love she had for her family. Cooking was more than just a pastime for Lorene; it was her way of keeping her family close and showing them, they were cherished.
Lorene’s legacy is carried on through her beloved daughter, Jennifer Lea Hinson (Jerry); her granddaughter, Stephanie NaCole Webb (Blake); her treasured great-grandchildren, Kristin Brumley (Michael) and Kaille Jackson (Hayden); and her precious great-great-granddaughter, Briley Paige Brumley. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Wanette Tarkington, who, along with the rest of the family, will miss her profoundly.
Above all, Lorene’s greatest joy was found in her walk with Jesus Christ. Her love for the Lord was the center of her life, and she lived out her faith in the way she loved and cared for others. She leaned on God in every season and was always quick to share His goodness. Her Bible was worn from use, and her prayers covered her family daily. To know Lorene was to see the love of Jesus in action. Her faith was the guiding light of her life, shaping her into the kind, gentle, and steadfast woman her family and friends cherished. Lorene’s church family was dear to her heart, and she leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Those who knew Lorene will remember her as the woman of love, kindness, and gentleness. Her soft-spoken nature and caring heart made her the person everyone loved to be around.
