English, Arlas Olen
Arlas “Bo” Olen English, age 89 of Guys, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 at his home in Guys.
A private family only service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2020 at Magnolia Funeral Home in Corinth, Mississippi with interment in Henry Cemetery. Bro. Jeremy Arnold officiated the service.
Born June 30, 1931 in Adamsville, Bo was the owner of Charlies Truck Stop, Jetties, and the Red Barn. He also worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Selmer. He was one of the founding members of the Hatchie Bottom Boys. Bo has been playing Bluegrass music for 70 plus years in the surrounding area. He is a well known Bluegrass musician in West Tennessee and North Mississippi and a member of the McNairy County Hall of Fame. Bo also loved to hunt, fish, the outdoors and camping.
He is survived by his daughter, Rejaneia Morris (Bill) of Guys; three grandchildren, Brandon Forsyth (Kristi), Nathan Morris (Hannah) and Dana Potts (Ben); four great grandchildren, Ruby Kate Morris, Halle Morris, Willow Potts and Walker Potts; brothers, Johnny English of Oregon and Jamie English (Ann) of Hohenwald; sisters, Dorothy Haynes of Jackson and Edith Tucker of Athens, Georgia; sister-in-law, Kathy English of Corinth; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Bo was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Virdie Lee English; father, William Edward English; mother, Claudia Besada Varnell English; brothers, Arnold English (Imogene) and Neil English and brothers-in-law , P.J. Haynes and Robert Tucker.
