Dysinger, Yvonne Mae
Yvonne Mae Minchin Dysinger, Wife of one, Mother of four, Grandmother of 17, and Great-Grandmother of 15, passed peacefully to her rest at 12:09 am, March 7, 2024. She was 91 years old, and left behind a legacy of unmatched service, consistent love, and persistent dedication to her family, her friends and her church.
Yvonne was born on October 30, 1932 in Sydney Australia to Edwin Lennard Minchin and May Pocock Minchin. At fourteen her family moved to England where she completed high school. At eighteen she moved to the United States where she completed a nursing degree, starting at Loma Linda, California and finishing in Washington DC. During this time she met her husband, Paul William (Bill) Dysinger, MD, MPH. They were married May 11, 1958, and before her death celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Through her life Yvonne lived at least four years on five separate continents. Besides Australia, Europe and North America listed above, she also spent two separate two year stints in Tanzania, Africa. And she spent two years in Cambodia, 1 year in Singapore, 1 year in Pakistan, and 1 year in Yemen, all in Asia. Her international experiences were all in some manner or another related to mission service for the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church.
Besides her training as a nurse, Yvonne also completed a Masters in Public Health. Although her primary occupation throughout her life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she also worked in the Indian Health Service, and the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Global Missions Department.
Yvonne was known as the ultimate host, feeding, housing and nurturing thousands throughout her life. She loved music and nature, and was always ready for good conversation. Her dedication to spiritual things and the SDA church were always an important part of her life.
Yvonne leaves behind her husband Bill, her three sons, Edwin Paul Dysinger, Wayne Stephen Dysinger, and John William Dysinger, and her daughter Janelle Ruth Dysinger Edwards, as well as her 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
