Curtis, Elizabeth Colleen
Elizabeth Colleen Hooten Curtis left her earthly home on Sunday, April 2, 2023, surrounded by family. She was known best as Colleen and as a free spirit. Colleen was worldly and possessed a true traveler’s heart. She loved to experience new things and listen to her favorite music, which usually laid somewhere between Janis Joplin and John Prine. Colleen loved to read books, watch westerns and spend time with her family; her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Colleen had a country upbringing with her father James Hooten and Ruth Hutchison Hooten, as well as five sisters: Eleanor, Charlotte, Becky, Judy and Shana. Colleen lived a full, adventurous life, which included traveling around the country with her husband, Donnie (John Curtis).
Throughout her life she had perfected many professions. One of which had her traveling from coast to coast in logistics. She even went skydiving in her fifties! Colleen lived her life to the fullest, which was a life that was full of love, a great sense of humor, and a zeal for storytelling.
Colleen is survived by her son Kevin Curtis and his wife Trista Curtis of Hickman County, her daughter Sabrina Avery and her husband Charles Avery of Lewis County, her twelve grandchildren: Brandon, Haley, Caleb, Chance, Ryan, Chase, Catelynn, Cassidy, Kennedy, Raelyn, Gauge and Cash, as well as five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Danny Ray Orton (who passed away 30 years to the day and around the same time as Colleen’s passing) and her husband John H. Curtis. Colleen will be forever in our hearts and has forever impacted our lives. Arrangements will be made at a later date for a memorial for immediate family.
Adair Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
