Crowell, Dorothy Sue
Dorothy Sue Brewer Crowell, 83, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May15,1942, to the late Virgil and Pearl Morrison Brewer, Dorothy lived a life grounded in kindness, quiet strength, and devotion to the people she loved.
For 67 years, Dorothy shared her life with her beloved husband and soulmate, Donald Crowell. Their unwavering bond and the life they built together were an inspiration to everyone who knew them. She was a devoted mother to Angie Crowell and to her late son, Donnie Crowell Jr. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Wayne (Linda) Brewer, and was preceded in death by her siblings Joyce James, Betty Jo James, Linda Zimmerman, James Brewer, Ray Brewer, Tony Brewer, Carl Brewer, Ritchie Brewer and David Brewer.
She was a loving grandmother to Dustin Crowell, Jason Crowell, Brittany Langford, Jon Spears, Tyson Spears, and Kaylee Crowell, and her memory will continue to be cherished by her great-grandchildren Ben, Max and Rue Crowell. Dorothy was a hard-working woman who took pride in everything she did. She worked as a supervisor at Henry I. Siegel (HIS) for many years. After retiring, she continued to work side-by-side with her husband in their cabinet shop, remaining active and involved well into her late seventies.
Outside of work, Dorothy found joy in simple things—reading, sewing, crafting, and working word puzzles. She loved camping and boating along the Tennessee River, and she had a special fondness for sitting and watching the beauty of the hummingbirds and cardinals on their patio at the river. She treasured any and all time spent with her family, who were truly the center of her world.
Mostly, Dorothy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generosity, and the way she consistently put others before herself. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to guide her family for years to come.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lewis County Memorial Gardens, with Brother Ronnie Brewer officiating. All friends and family are welcome to attend the service.
