Jess Cothran, Jr., 115 Junior Drive, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital. The funeral was held Saturday, August 3 at 2:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home with L.C. Loveless, minister of Gordonsburg Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in the Swiss Cemetery. Mr. Cothran, 82, was the son of the late Jess and Lia Mae Boyce Cothran, Sr. He was a farmer, painter, and carpenter. He had been formerly employed as a school bus driver for the Lewis County School System for 28 years. He was a member of the Salem Church of Christ where he served as deacon and song leader. Mr. Cothran was a former commissioner of Lewis County and served for many years on the Lewis County Soil Conservation Board. He is survived by a son, Jimmy Cothran of Hohenwald; a daughter, Sheila Cothran of Hohenwald; three brothers, Mack Cothran of Farmington, Michigan, Bobby and Billy Cothran of Hohenwald; four sisters, Christine Hickerson of Detroit, Michigan, Era Nell Peters, Lucille Cotham and Freddie Sublett, all of Hohenwald; a grandson, Chad Cothran of Hohenwald; two granddaughters, Lisa Fransen and Tanonni Layne of Hohenwald; one Great-granddaughter, Jessica Fransen of Hohenwald; two great-grandsons, Logan and Ethan Fransen of Hohenwald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Eunice Cothran.
