John Cooper, was born in 1770 in Pennsylvania. He served in the Tennessee Militia and was at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in Alabama on March 27, 1814. He died on March 4, 1841 in Maury Co., Tenn. He married on April 3, 1798 in Smith County, Tennessee by the Rev. James Gwinn, M.E.C. to Eleanor (Ellen) McAdams, who was born July 10, 1780 in North Carolina and her father was a soldier under Washington. She died on June 18, 1877 in Maury Co., Tenn. Aged 98 yrs., 5 mo., 8 days.

- Sarah Cooper Born: 1810 in Maury County, Tenn. Married: on March 15, 1828 in Maury County, Tenn. by Wm. Allen, J.P. to William Gill.
- John P. Cooper Born: 1813 in Maury County, Tenn.
- William McAdams Cooper Born: 1816 in Maury County, Tenn., Married: November 15, 1835 in Maury County, Tenn. by R. Stockard, J.P. to Ann Robinson who died Mary 6, 1901.
- Samuel M. Cooper Born: 1819 in Maury County, Tenn. Married: 15 August 1844 in Maury County, Tenn. by R. Stockard, J.P. to Martha J. Kennedy who died in October 1890
