Harold George Choate was born in the Wrigley Community of Hickman County on March 3, 1936, to the late Vernie and Lula Mae Skelton Choate and passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Centerville on August 22, 2021, at the age of 85 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Choate was preceded in death by step-children, Tony King, Tammy King and Terri King, and several brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Choate is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jan Choate, daughter, Tecia Vaughn and her husband Russ, sister, Sandy Bryant and her husband Robert, granddaughters, Merideth Jones and her husband Dewey and Grace Hinson, and great-grandson, Garrison Hinson Bellar.

Mr. Choate joined the Army in 1954 reaching the rank of Specialist 3rd Class and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was the D.A.R.E. officer for Hickman County for 17 years and served for a total of 30 years in law enforcement retiring in 2011. He was a radio announcer for many years, involved with Wrigley Softball, was an avid golfer and loved animals.

A private family memorial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hickman County High School Golf Team.
