Chessor, Katie Sue
Mrs. Katie Sue Harris Chessor, 85, of Linden, passed away Wednesday May 14, 2025 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro.
She was born in Hohenwald to the late Clarence Harris and Della Wicks Harris Wylie. She graduated from Lewis County High School, Class of 1958. After graduating she married James Chessor in Iuka, Mississippi. Katie was a homemaker and worked as a Child Care Giver at the Saturn Drive Baptist Church before retiring. She was a member of the Beardstown Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, baking, working in the garden and her flowers. She loved children and was a second mother to many. She loved taking her grandchildren on trips, such as going to Opryland and the Mountains. Katie was always putting other first. She really enjoyed talking to others and also watching Gunsmoke.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her son David Wayne Chessor, a sister Faye Harris Tinin and son-in-law Scott Riner.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, James Chessor of Linden, a son James Dean (Irma) Chessor of Franklin, Tn., daughters Carolyn Sue (Rick) Cox of Mt. Juliet, and Elana Marie Riner of Winder, Georgia, daughter-in-law Callie Chessor, grandchildren Jessica (Craig) Congelton, Desire Chessor, Brandon Cox, Taylor (Mallory) Sparacino, Madison (Josh) Parker, Didi Chessor and Eider Chessor, great-grandchildren Sophia, Mackenna, Easton, Stella and Whitley, a sister Donnie Clayton of Linden, brothers Leon Harris of Hohenwald and David Harris of Bryson City, North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends
