Chasan, Jerry Wayne
Jerry Wayne Chasan, born on August 28, 1953, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 24, 2023, in Decaturville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late John M. Chasan and Sally Chason of Pennsylvania.
Jerry shared over 20 years of marriage with his wife, Teresa Freeman, whom he married on May 3, 2003, in Pleasantville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his niece, Samantha Chasan, Patricia Ragsdale who he considered his daughter and was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Wayne Chasan.
Jerry served in the United States Army for 8 years as a Helicopter Mechanic and Repairman. He spent time overseas in Germany during his service.
Known for his positive spirit, Jerry brought laughter to those around him, even during his time in a nursing home. His humor and optimism made a lasting impact on friends and family.
Jerry had a special bond with his pets, including “Fat Cat” Midnight, dogs Precious and Smokey, and cat Tiger Lily. He enjoyed building and painting model cars and motorcycles, expressing his love for craftsmanship and detail. He would work until the models were just right.
An outdoorsman at heart, Jerry loved fishing and deer hunting. He was proud of his Native American heritage, he started many days with meditation, and burning sage to clear his mind. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, Jerry found joy in the open road, riding his last motorcycle, affectionately named “Pearl.”
His simple advice for a happy marriage was to avoid arguments and respond with a smile, saying, “Yes dear.”
Jerry’s memory will live on through the love, laughter, and positive energy he shared with everyone he knew. He will be deeply missed by all.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes he will be cremated.
