Samuel Meece Cathey was born June 16, 1935, to the late Thomas B. and Margaret Ghant Cathey in Lewis County and living most of his life in the Mobley Ridge/Center Star Community of Hickman County.

He spent the majority of his adult life as a construction worker and a farmer at home.

His favorite pastimes were his love for gardening and fishing.

He was always a faithful Christian, loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was united in marriage to Ida Sue Cathey for 42 years.

He made his final home with his wife in the Knoxville, Tennessee area with his devoted son Marcus and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Joe T. Cathey and Anderson Ghant along with two sisters Mary Kathrine Turner and Billie Ann Cathey.

He leaves to honor his memory his devoted wife Ida Sue Cathey, 5 sons Juanest (Eartha) Cathey, Avery Patrick Cathey, Artis (Virginia) Cathey, Marcus (Sarah) Cathey, and Carvis Cathey. Two daughters Velma Lowery and Gloria Scott Pillow. Four sisters Robbie Booker, Helen Patterson, Lucille Booker, and Geraldine Dowell. One sister-in-law Betty Cathey. Twenty grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Walk-Through Visitation will be 3 Apr 2021 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home- Hickman Co.  Graveside Services will be 3 Apr 2021 at PM at 1:30 PM at Memory Gardens, Centerville, TN.
