Cathey, Avery Patrick
Avery Patrick Cathey was born November 3, 1963, to the late Samuel Meece Cathey and Ella Bell Anderson Cathey in the Fort Cooper Community of Primm Springs, located in Hickman County, Tennessee. This is also where he received his formal education and was a graduate of Hickman County High School.
Upon completion of High School, Pat worked for a short period in the grocery industry before entering the armed forces. After returning from the army, he became an excellent worker with concrete and block masonry. He was also an all-around maintenance person.
Pat was baptized at an early age at the Church of Christ at Fort Cooper. On September 21, 2023, Pat answered god’s call to enter eternal rest after a long battle with illness.
Pat was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents T.B. and Margaret Fowlkes, uncles, Kinnard, and Thomas Anderson Jr., who he was raised with as brothers and most recently by his father Samuel Meece Cathey and his sister Velma Felecia Lowery.
Patrick will forever be loved and remembered by his mother Ella Bell Cathey, stepmother, Ida Sue Cathey, five brothers, Vince Cathey, Artis Cathey, Marcus (Sarah) Cathey, Carvis (Cassandra) Cathey, and Juanest (Eartha) Cathey. Special Aunt raised as his sister, Janice (Kelton) Daniel.
Special extended family Mary Ann and Sharon Warfield. Close companion, Carisa Simmons (RiRi), along with a host of loving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation with the family will be 27 Sep 2023 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. – Hickman County. Graveside Services will be 27 Sep 2023 at 12:30 PM at Fort Cooper Cemetery, Primm Springs, TN.
