Joyce Ann Underhill Carroll, a woman known for love and kindness, passed away on January 28, 2026, in Nashville, TN. Born on December 5, 1948, to the late Cecil and Alberta Underhill, Joyce lived a life adorned with the joy of family, the satisfaction of a fulfilling career, and the warmth of countless friendships.

She was a beloved wife to David Carroll for 56 years. Together, they cultivated a home full of laughter, support, and understanding. Her role as a mother was exemplified in her son, Shane Carroll, who reflects her nurturing spirit and strength of character. Joyce’s legacy further grew in the form of her granddaughters, Shearose and Lela Carroll, who will carry forward the memories made.

Though predeceased by her siblings, Mary Davidson, James, Kenneth, Bobby, and Ricky Underhill, Joyce’s memory will continue to be cherished and celebrated by the family she adored and the friends she held dear.

Professionally, Joyce dedicated many years to the field of Human Resources, where her ability to understand and care for others was a natural fit. She was not only respected for her work ethic and expertise but also for the compassion and kindness she extended to her colleagues

Joyce’s interests were a reflection of the love she had for life and those around her. An exceptional cook, she found joy in creating meals that brought people together, fostering moments of togetherness and celebration. Her home was often the hub of gatherings, where family and friends were always greeted with open arms and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Above all, Joyce was an all-around wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her life was a living example of the words that best describe her: loving and kind. These qualities were not merely attributes but the essence of her being, permeating every aspect of her life and touching all whom she encountered. This held true in her dedication to her church, Riverside Church of Christ where her warm smile and gentle heart touched all that walked through the doors.
