Brown, Ruby Laverne
Ruby Laverne Vandiver Brown, age 80, passed away February 3, 2026 at Southern Tennessee Regional Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born on January 19, 1946, in Napier, Tennessee, to the late Modena Reed and Fred Reed.
Ruby was a talented seamstress whose skill and creativity were well known throughout the community. She proudly owned and operated Ruby’s Drapery, located in the WXRQ studios, where her craftsmanship and dedication were evident in every piece she created. Above all else, Ruby loved her family beyond measure and devoted her life to caring for those she cherished.
Strong in her faith, Ruby was a faithful member of the Church of God, where she found comfort, strength, and fellowship throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Phillip (Debbie) Vandiver; grandchildren, Angelena (Daniel) Reece, Ashley (Brandon) Finley, and Justin (Tiffany) Vandiver; great-grandchildren, Nikki (Will) Kittrell, Lizzi Vandiver, Mason Kittrell, Leiah Reece, Marissa Reece, MaKayla Finley, Weston Finley, Aniston Finley, Emersyn Vandiver, and Parker Vandiver; great-great-grandchildren, Ella Harris, Beckett Kittrell, Baylor Woodard, Emery Hardison, and Sutton Vaughn; and siblings, Irene Davis, Billy “Bill” (Ruth Anne) Reed, and Fred Edward “Eddie” (Donna) Reed, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Vandiver and Eddie Brown; her parents, Modena and Fred Reed; her daughter, Karen L. Vandiver; her grandson, Anthony Allen; and her siblings, Betty Hensley Odom, Doris Almarez, and Harriel Reed.
A service to honor Ruby’s life was held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, with Terry Curtis speaking. The family received friends on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service at the funeral home. Ruby was laid to rest at Napier Cemetery in Lewis Co, TN.
