Brooks, Edith Mae
Edith Mae Brooks was born at her family home in Duck River, Tennessee on January 9, 1943, and passed away in Columbia, Tennessee on March 28, 2023. She was 80 years old.
She is the daughter of the late John Arthur Mobley and Sara Agnes Scott Mobley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband James Thomas “Jimmy” Brooks, Jr. They were married for nearly 48 years when he passed in 2009.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie (Jeff) Thomas of Centerville, Tennessee, and Kristie (Richie) Turnbo of Columbia, Tennessee. Sister Bettye (Late Jimmie) Patton of Hampshire, Tennessee. Grandchildren Michael Scott, Taylor Grace Scott, Brianna Bullock, and Aidan Turnbo. 4 Great Grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Along with several other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Mrs. Edith was a proud member of the 1961 Hickman County High School Graduating Class and loved going to class reunions.
She was a member of the Anderson Bend Church of Christ for her entire life and faithfully attended until her health prevented her. In total, she was a part of the congregation for over 70 years.
Mrs. Brooks retired from the hospital as a housekeeper. She also worked as a substitute rural mail carrier, and as a housekeeper for a hotel. Her favorite work though was on the farm. She loved working cows, feeding, running equipment, and stripping and setting tobacco. She worked as hard or harder than any man out there.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation with the family will be 30 March 2023 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM and 31 March 2023 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Funeral services will follow at 1:ooPM and burial will take place in Little Lot Cemetery, Duck River, TN.
