Brenda Anita Bates was born on May 23, 1947, and passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 77.

She is the daughter of the late Raymond Austin Bates and Mattie Mae Underhill Bates. She is also preceded in death by her sister Donna Kay Dye.

Although she never married or had children, Ms. Bates chose a family to call her own. Bruce and Regina King of Centerville, TN were in her heart the son and daughter in law she never had. To Ms. Bates their children Kristen (Wade) Gardner, Courtney Pratt and Dylan (Jacqueline) King were her grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. King also have two grandchildren Braxton and Jenna Gardner who were considered by Ms. Bates great grandchildren and loving called her Granny Brenda. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory Trina Garrett, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
