Erma Jean Barnes, affectionately known as Tootie, passed away on May 23, 2024, at AHC Lewis County. She was born on July 7, 1940, in Hohenwald to the late John Henry and Mamie Duren Porter Barnes.

Tootie loved to talk, she never met a stranger. Many days you could find her with a phone in one hand and a phone book in the other. Tootie loved attending the Grinders Creek Church of Christ. She had a deep love for children, flowers, dogs, and her cherished collection of dolls.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by eight siblings, Richard Barnes, James William Barnes, Thomas Barnes, Ida Mae Acres, Lonnis Barnes, Neoma Whitehead, David Barnes, and Carolyn Miller.

She is survived by her sister, Melva Anita Morris, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at McDonald Funeral Home – Lewis County and continue until funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Steve Holloway will officiate.  Burial will follow at Grinders Creek Church of Christ Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN,
