Barber, James Douglas
James Douglas Barber, of Parsons, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at the age of 81.
“Doug” was born on June 5, 1939 to Kyle and Nell Barber in Linden, Tennessee. He graduated from Hohenwald High School in 1957 and then joined the United States Navy where he served from 1957 until 1961.
In 1960 he married Brenda Taylor and they had three sons, Greg Barber, Jeff Barber and Hoyt Barber. They shared a loving 53 years together.
He retired from Turner Dairies after working with the company for over 40 years. Doug loved to fish, woodworking and was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff and Hoyt Barber; a brother, Jerry (Sharon) Barber of Parsons; and a sister, Deborah Thurman of Brentwood, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Brenda; his son, Greg; and a daughter-in-law, Theresa Barber.
Doug loved the Lord, his family and friends.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
