Baker, Pittman Kenneth
Pittman Kenneth Baker, a true family man and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, in Nashville, TN, at the age of 82. Born on May 21, 1943, in Hohenwald, TN, to the late Kenneth and Hilda Hickerson Baker, Pittman’s life was a testament to the values of love, wisdom, and faith that he held dear.
Pittman’s journey through life was one of love and commitment, most notably illustrated by his 61-year marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Peery Baker. Together, they raised three children: Keith (Amy) Baker, Chris (Suzy) Baker, and Troy (Tonia) Baker. These children, in turn, filled Pittman’s life with the joy of grandchildren: Megan Wenzell, Braden Baker, Reagan Baker, Hunter Baker, Addison Baker, and Garek Cotham. He was also blessed to know his great-grandchildren, Makayla, Isabella, and Ameilya.
Pittman’s legacy is also carried on by his brother, Andy Baker, and sister, Kenda Jones, who, along with the extended family, will forever cherish his memory.
An accomplished academic, Pittman earned a bachelor’s degree from Freed-Hardeman and a master’s degree in business from MTSU, achievements that paved the way for a successful career. He dedicated many years to the engineering department for TDOT, where his expertise and work ethic were highly regarded by his colleagues and peers.
Pittman was a devout Christian, living his faith through both word and deed. His commitment to his beliefs was evident in the way he led his life and the good Christian example he set for others to follow.
Beyond his professional and spiritual contributions, Pittman had a passion for building houses and embarking on various projects. His hands were rarely still, as he was always in pursuit of creating something meaningful for his family and community.
Pittman was an exceptional father, grandfather, and husband. His love for his family was his guiding force, and he instilled in them the principles of kindness, respect, and the importance of a strong work ethic.
Pittman’s daily routine often included having coffee with “the boys” every morning at the local gathering spot, affectionately known as the Skillet.
