Baker, Gregory Keith
Mr. Gregory Keith “Monkey” Baker, age 59 of Hohenwald, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by some of his closest friends.
He was born in Hohenwald on December 21, 1961 to the late JP Baker & Delphine (Staggs) Baker.
Monkey as everyone called him, never met a stranger and was one of the kindest men ever. His profession allowed him to meet and speak to numerous people in Hohenwald, many of whom he became friends with. He worked for the USPS as a mail carrier for 12 years before becoming disabled, he worked for 412 Building Supply and for 16 years he worked at Universal Fasteners in Centerville. He loved UT Football, loved to golf and loved gardening. He had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He also was a daily listener of Hohenwald’s local radio station 1230 WMLR. Many things come to mind when you think of “Monkey”, but the traits that stood out the most were his kind and giving heart. He will truly be all those that knew him.
He is survived by significant other, Bobbie Barrow, step-son, Casey Baird, brother, Kevin Baker Sr. (Jenny), nephew, Kevin Lane Baker, niece, Amanda Bone, special friends, Darryl King (Nicki Jones), Barry Warren and the remainder of Lewis County.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon along with his parents.
Visitation with the family will be held, Saturday, January 23, 2021 Graveside at Swiss Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with graveside services beginning at 4:00 PM.
