Baker, Betty Jean
Mrs. Betty Jean Stephens Baker, age 92, passed away peacefully at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 28,2022. She was born on July 3, 1930, to the late Pauline Harrison Roy and Felix Stephens.
She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Sarah Harrison and her great-granddaughter, Arica Hinson.
She is survived by eight children, Ronald Woodard, Rita Woodard, Jerry Woodard (Shirley), Betty Carol Parnell (Charles), Tommy Baker, Milton Baker, Robert Baker, and Denise McAllister (Rodney). Mrs. Baker is also survived by grandchildren, Lindsey Gagnon (David), Rodney Parnell (Delana), Ronald Woodard, Jr. (Dena), Reagon Jones, Christopher Woodard, Janice Hollandsworth (Jason), Sherry Montgomery (Ray), Jamie Hinson (Aric), Rachel James (Adam), James Robert Baker, Stephen Cosgrove (Kayla), Amanda Reed, Brian Baker, Jeremiah Baker and 15 great-grandchildren.
In adulthood, Betty attained her GED, learned to drive, bought and paid for her home. She obtained a certification in food service having worked at Hickman County Hospital, Turney Center Industrial Complex, and the Tennessee Prison for Women. She had a passion for plants and was a very talented sketch artist without formal training. She was a long-time member of the Pinewood Church of Christ until moving to Nunnelly where she joined the Nunnelly Church of Christ. She was a loving caregiver to her daughter Rita, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation with the family will be September 1, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Funeral Services will be held September 2, 2022 at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County with burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Nashville, TN.
