Mattie Tom Ayers, a beloved resident of Centerville, passed away on December 13, 2024, in Columbia, Tennessee, at the age of 90. She was born on November 18, 1934, in Pleasantville, Tennessee, to the late Herschel Revo Chessor and Mattie Adell Horner Chessor.

In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wilson Ayers; her daughter, Carolyn Faye Ayers; her sisters, Sue (Leslie) Edney and Emma (Herman) Johnson; and her brother, James (Betty) Chessor.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa (Ron) Ayers Pope; cherished grandson, Ryan D. (Jennifer) Bates; her sisters, Evelyn (Dan) Thompson, Ila (Jimmy) Jenkins, and Linda (Frank) Warfield; and her brothers, Willie (Nancy) Chessor and Granville (Carmonet Bunch) Chessor.

A devoted member of the Centerville Church of Christ, Mattie was known for her love of gardening and took great pride in her flowers and yard. Her kind and nurturing spirit touched everyone who knew her, and her memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends.

Graveside Services will be held 15 Dec 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakmont Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
