The funeral service for Ms. Winnie Ruth Black Aydelott, 93, of the Swan Creek Community will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM in a graveside service at the Campground Cemetery on Swan Creek, Centerville, TN.
She passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the Ascension Saint Thomas Hickman Nursing Home.
Born at home in Hohenwald, Tennessee, one of eight children, she was the daughter of the late Pauline and Clyde Black. For seventy years she was the spouse of the late L. T. Aydelott and for 76 years her lovely voice could be heard as a member of the Salem Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Lewis County High School. As a farmer’s wife, she was an excellent cook, seamstress, gardener, rattlesnake killer, and prize-winning quilter producing over 200 hand-quilted quilts.
Preceded in death by siblings B.C. Black, Jean Edwards, Sue Pace, Anne Kittrell, she is survived by siblings Bob, Jon, and David Black, as well as three sons: Paul (Laura) of Swan Creek, James (June) of Centerville, and David (Renee) of Smyrna, Tennessee. She leaves six grandchildren, Jera (Eddie) Petrowski, Jana (James) Aydelott-Yarbrough, Jonathan (Misty) Aydelott, Alan Aydelott, Katherine and Meredith Aydelott, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and countless nieces and nephews.
Her long-time minister and friend, Joe Griner of Hohenwald, and close friend, Donald Duncan, of Hohenwald, will conduct the graveside service at Campground Cemetery as she is laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
